Course Objectives

The TAA40104 — Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course applies to people for whom training is a large part of their jobs or a full job function within a structured training and assessment system. People, who have the skills to design, implement, manage and evaluate assessment and training systems within various workplaces are highly sought after in a wide variety of businesses.

The course outlines the skills needed to be able to plan and deliver training sessions to groups and individuals, while also providing you with the knowledge necessary to assess their effectiveness. It covers 14 units of competency designed to achieve successful workplace training.

How is Competency Measured?

Each qualification is a fully assessed program in keeping with its competency-based focus.

All of the units are workshop based with a practical project to implement the learning, and an assessment activity.

Course material includes notes for each unit, learning exercises, required readings and references for further reading, and unit assignments for assessment. Exercises and assignments include projects to enhance learning and provide a medium for assessment.

Students will gain experience in developing assessment tools and procedures and designing courses. Expertise is gained in analysing competency needs and evaluating all aspects of the training and/or assessment system.

Selection Criteria

Your current role and experience will be taken into account and if your work includes training opportunities, it will stand in your favor. However, training experience is not mandatory

Skills Recognition — Exemptions/Transfers

Students may be eligible for exemptions/transfers on the basis of previous qualifications.

Further Study Links

After this course you can go on to study the Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, or the Diploma of Training and Assessment, of which this course makes up the first stage.

Course Delivery Options

This course can be delivered in our training room, distance via correspondence or online. Training room delivery is currently run over 16 contact days. At present this is 2 days per week for 8 weeks. Distance learning is conducted via emails and telephone contact. Online delivery is via our online learning platform, Pragmatic Online, where all of your course learning materials are found. You will also have access to 1:1 phone and email support.

During the TAA40104 — Certificate IV in Assessment and Training students will be required to create four session presentations. These are delivered during the training room contact days, or if distance learning/online, mixed media presentations are to be arranged and submitted by the student for assessment.
