Course Objectives

The nationally recognised CHC40608 — Certificate IV in Leisure and Health course is for people who are seeking career opportunities in designing, conducting and evaluating day activity programs to promote health and well being.

Workers in this occupational group work in residential facilities, community agencies and day centers. Work may be under professional supervision within defined organisational guidelines or as sole practitioners. These workers (assist in) design, implement and evaluate health and leisure for clients in one or more sector areas. These workers may be responsible for other workers.

Assessment

Assessment is competency based and can include written papers, classroom activities, verbal presentations and the demonstration of work-based competencies.

Industry Placement

If students are not currently working in the industry, 160 placement hours must be undertaken to successfully complete this course.

Entry Requirements

Essential requirements are:

  • A literacy and numeracy test is required before commencement of all Pragmatic Training qualification courses.
  • Interview process and a strong interest in this work is required.
  • Successful applicants must provide a current Police Check

Students may be eligible for exemptions/transfers on the basis of previous qualifications.

As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised. On successful completion students will be awarded the Certificate IV in Leisure and Health.
